Learn a little about our booksellers and what they love to read
MOLLY
I love to read books that do beautiful things with language—closer to poetry than prose. I love short, crystalline books, or stories where place is a feature, or books about women living creative strong lives against the grain. My literary heroes are Helen Garner, Deborah Levy, Annie Ernaux, Charlotte Wood, Annie Dillard, Kevin Barry, Max Porter and George Saunders.
The thing that excites me most about working in a bookshop is being in proximity to the books themselves—their smell and feel and all the possibilities held inside the spines. I also love divining what books people need, as well as having the opportunity to interview authors and write reviews, newsletters and Q and As. I quite like my lovely colleagues, too!
You’ll find me reading most often in bed. If I were stuck on a deserted island, I would seek out a collection of go-to Garner short stories for the company of her rich mind and frank syntax, or something dense I’ve been meaning to study like The Quran, or The Masnavi.
