Learn a little about our booksellers and what they love to read

I love reading fiction, the occasional biography and the sporadic crime novel. Some of my favourite authors include Elizabeth Strout, Helen Garner, Clare Keegan, Charlotte Wood and Ian Rankin. Two things excite me the most about working in a bookshop. The first is being able to put a book I have loved into the hands of a customer and then hearing how much they loved it too. The second is opening up the boxes on new release day and still getting a thrill when I see all the beautiful new books. It’s like Christmas Day every month.
In Winter I love reading on the couch in front of the fire, and in summer I love reading outside – on the beach if possible. I also read every night in bed before I go to sleep. The question of my desert island book is too hard, but I choose The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I’ve only read it once when it was first published, loved it so much and met Donna when she came to Writers Week in Adelaide. I’ve always wanted to read it again, so a desert island might be my chance.
