HEATHER

I like reading all the fiction genres, but my book diet is mostly literary fiction with fantasy and sci-fi being my guilty pleasure. Oh, and I have a cookbook obsession. My favourite authors are Helen Garner, Deborah Levy, George Saunders, Jenny Offill, Denis Johnson, Hernan Diaz, Lauren Groff, N.K. Jemisin and Margaret Atwood. I love working in a bookshop for all of the obvious reasons but I particularly enjoy the bit where I get to tell my family that lazing around with a book is me ‘working’.

I mostly read in the evenings, so over winter my spot is in the living room, in front of the fire, surrounded by sports-mad males watching the footy. This sadly means I have to wear headphones blasting white noise. This is normalish right? It works, regardless. I don’t think I could risk having a mediocre desert island book, so Lonesome Dove would be perfect. It’s an epic with a bit of everything and is the very definition of a very good reading time.
